Dog Is My Co-pilot

When dogs fly first class

I recently saw this story about a group called Dog Is My Co-Pilot.

This organization is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs. They take the dogs from shelters that are over-flowing with animals. Animals that would have to be put down if they stayed in the crowded shelter.

They load as many as 251 dogs at a time, into a plane and fly around the country. The plane flies the dogs to towns that have no-kill shelters and high demand for dog adoption. It’s a wonderful idea and I just wanted to help spread the word with the hope that we can all help support them.

Dog Is My Co-Pilot is the brainchild of Peter Rork, MD. He is also the pilot that flies this Cessna Turbo Cessna 206 Stationair full of pups. Peter is a retired orthopedic surgeon. The recent loss of his wife, Meg, left him in a deep depression.

A friend of the couple reminded Peter that Meg would’ve wanted him to carry on, be happy and productive. While people thank Peter for saving so many dogs, he says the dogs saved him.

If you have any feedback or questions about Dog Is My Co-Pilot or any other dog rescue organizations you may be familiar with, please leave your comments below. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
