Product overview
Maybe you’ve been jogging with your dog while holding a leash. Due to the asymmetry, eventually, that’s going to mess up your gait and cause small or large injuries.
This is a hands-free leash attached to a belt around your waist. The leash is shock-corded to stretch and avoid any sudden jerks to dog or human. The hardware is sturdy, metal, and not cheap. A 360-degree buckle helps prevent tangles. The waist belt is adjustable from 28” to 49”
Pros
The simple design and heavy-duty quality make this leash easy and functional.
The length of “bungee-type” shock cord/leash is especially good if your pup likes to be pretty close to you while running (3 to 4.5 ft).
The metal D-ring is adjustable and slides to the location on the belt that works best for you and your dog.
The leash gives gentle, but firm pressure as it stretches. This subtly reminds the dog to stay at a correct distance. Note: the shock cord tension is significant. If a dog starts pulling – you immediately feel the chord engage. Though it’s a heavy-weight nylon strap, the leash/chord feels sensitive and connected to your dog. And at only 3 ft when not stretched there’s not much slack to it either. It trains you both to hang tight.
Small but interesting detail. The hooks have a fish-hook like barb. Though not sharp like a fishhook, this could be a safety back-up and catch a metal loop in case the spring-loaded latch fails. A little quality thing that could be important.
Cons
I felt the leash to be a little short. My dog and I are out in the burbs. There’s not much traffic, so my dog likes a little more room… or maybe just likes to be far away from me. She’s used to a 6 ft-ish range. This leash is 3 to 4.5ish ft.
Conclusion
This is a very sturdy, well-made leash. I’m not sure why they call it “Stunt Runner”. I suppose it’s strong enough to do stunts with. The name of the company is Stunt Puppy, so it’s probably just a wordplay. A bit confusing name but I recommend it for running with your dog. You know your pup is connected with you at the hip emotionally, now you two can truly be joined at the hip.
